Farmer's Market Finds
The best farmer's market to get the true experience is the Canino Produce in Houston. We love going there, smell the air which is mix of fresh fruit/veggies etc. There are also some mexican food trucks selling food for the hungry. The best finds I find at this market are fruits and veggies , they are juicy, sweet, fresh and affordable. The point of we going to the market is not that they are lil bit cheaper than grocery store but to have the experience of it. In India we used to have open markets and I used to love going with my father on weekend morning to get fresh produce and this market gives me similar experience which I love it. Some of the stuff I buy here are
1. Mangoes
2. Oranges
3. Watermelon
4. Bulk onions/potatoes
5. Beets
6. Guava's
7. Limes/Lemon's
8. Melons
9. Chillies
10. Coconut water ( they peel the hard outer cover so you drink the water from the flesh and eat it - no fuss no mess)
11. Many other seasonal stuff
12. Plants, cookware etc are also available for purchase

Some tips for your market
Be it a open farmers market or an organized city market where they set up booths etc to sell stuff like soaps, honey etc , you can follow an etiquette that makes both parties comfortable and happy.
1. Be considerate of the other party.
2. Don't bargain with farmers (they make lil profit) unless you are buying so much in bulk.
3. Even if you bargain be polite and ask them.
4. Don't give negative remarks on their products/produce. If you don't like it move on to the next vendor.
5. Most of the vendors gives you samples for taste, so use those samples to determine if you want to buy it or not. This controls impulsive decisions
6. Always try to go early for best produce and it protects you from harsh sun.
7. If you cannot go early, go just before closing, where many vendors want get rid of their produce/products they might offer discounts where you could save couple of bucks.
8. Always Keep CASH and travel lite
9. Carry your own bags as all may not supply one.
Hope these tips will you help your next trip to the farmer's market.
