CALIFORNIA - Must places to Visit in USA
I understood why people rave about california living when I visited california :) . It is such a beautiful place and anyone who is in USA must visit. Our Journey started from Houston to LA flight. We went to our Brother in Law house in LA and visited Universal Studios Hollywood for an entire day. It was so fun but exhausting as the Sun was out all the time hitting us pretty badly. we went for several rides and all of them are awesome, for people without kids I recommend Universal Studios ofcourse you can visit both if you have time.
Then we went off to visit Big bear lake near LA which is pretty cool , it is at a very high elevation. We took a ride in the lake and had some fun. Next off we went to Santa Monica pier , so beautiful but it was an overcast day so didn't had much sun action going on but still it was a neat place to enjoy the evening. I had mixed fruit cups from the vendors on the streets and they are incredibly delicious - mixed fruits topped with lime and chili. Now its our time to take the Pacific Coast Highway from LA to San Francisco - The famous PCH drive. Oh Boy it was so worth it , it was one of the beautiful long drives we ever had, such a scenic place and great for couples to just enjoy the coast drive. We stopped at multiple places for restrooms, food and to see the beach. If we take the drive again we would definitely plan much better to make sure we stop at must watch places. But thats ok, you live and learn. By the time we reached Big sur it was evening and the clouds are so near to us, it was driving into white clouds- heaven.
We ramped up our speed as we need to reach nearest place for gas and overnight stay. Finally after super scenic and exhausting drive we stopped at Monterrey bay for food and overnight stay. Next morning we started to San francisco .. on the way we stopped few times to some scenic spots and also went to santa clara famous mystery spot. Finally at the sunset we reached San francisco took some cool pictures are the SF bridge and moved on to get our rental car and start for another drive to Reno,Nevada.
The evening traffic in SF is so bad we lost so much light while in traffic. After getting our car we started to Reno and on the way we stopped at a Taco bell for light food. I got so sleepy in the drive that I was babbling something so that my husband doesn't feel drowsy. My husband told me later " I was wide awake but you are so funny.. talking shit" lol.. We were super exhausted and slept the night peacefully in the Hotel. Next day morning we met our friend who flew from Houston to Reno and we all are headed to Lake Tahoe. Next 2 days we visited Lake Tahoe, such a natural beauty. Every inch of the lake is perfect and stupendous. After Lake Tahoe we are headed to Majestic Yosemite National Park.
We visited lower valley,El capitan, Tenaya lake,bridal veil falls, took hike to vernal falls,toulomne meadows,glacier point at night and took the rope way in the valley and also did camping overnight etc. It was so beautiful but if we go again we would want to cover those places we missed the first time. After Yosemite trip we drove back to Sacremento , for flight back to Houston. This trip was well spent and so worth it. And there is lot to see in california and I am so excited to visit again.
