Protein Rich Dosa/Crepes

Dosa or Savory Crepes are a staple in a south Indian household, be it for breakfast lunch dinner or as a snack. Usually dosa is made of urad dal and rice and it is delicious. I want to make this recipe to a new level to meet my protein needs. I added a range of dals/lentils to make this more nutritious and delicious. It is extremely simple to make just soak and grind the batter and No FERMENTATION...!! Isn't it great that there is no fermentation needed. All the ingredients mentioned are easily available at Indian Grocery. Also the exciting thing is this is completely vegan recipe, yay..!! I used Ghee to roast and vegans can substitute oil for Ghee.

Ingredients

Urad Dal - 1 Cup

Chana Dal - 1 Cup

Yellow Moong Dal - 1 Cup

Green Moong Dal - 1 Cup

Brown Rice or Regular White Rice - 2 to 3 cups

Poha/Flattened rice - 1 Cup

Red Dried Chillies - 4 to 5 or to taste ( I used Bydagi variety, which are less hot and gives nice color to Dosa)

Hing/Asafoetida - few pinches

Water - as needed

Salt - as needed

Cumin seeds - 1 big spoon

Oil/Ghee - to roast

Method

~ Wash all the Dals and Rice together thoroughly ( like 4 to 5 times to get rid of any dirt/debri)

~ Add Poha, Dried Chillies and Hing and fill water to the top( 1 inch above the dals)

~ If the water gets soaked up then add lil more to keep them drowned in water

~ After 6 to 8 hrs, grind them to a smooth batter along with salt and cumin seeds.

~ You can start making crepes/dosas with oil or ghee to roast

~ see the video below on how to make swirl the dosa onto the pan :)

~ Serve with Chutney of your choice or pickle of your choice, or eat as it is.

~ Roll them up with PB&Jelly or any nutbutter+honey etc and enjoy
